STEREO.

Sister (or brother) pub to mono, Stereo's doors opened in november 2007 after relocating from the west end to a Charles Rennie MacKintosh building in the city centre. Operating as a cafe, bar, music & arts venue we have quickly established ourselves as an integral part of the cultural landscape of Glasgow, a city alive with creativity - "at laid-back Stereo the mood is Bohemian and refreshingly non-corporate, always something to be applauded in a city centre where so many of the eating out possibilities are clones or chains."

LOCATION

You can find us in Renfield Lane (running between Renfield St and Hope St), a stones throw from Central Station. We are a short walk from either St.Enoch or Buchannan St underground stations, Queen Street Station and Buchannan St Bus Station. Please see map
Stereo occupies the lower and basement floors of a less well-known building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928).The building, with its swooping sandstone curves and unusual tiled exterior, was designed in 1900 and built between 1901 and 1904. Originally home to the Daily Record printing works until the late 1930's it was then used as a manufacturing workshop by clothing outfitter R.W. Forsyth whose store was on nearby Renfield St . Acquired by Scottish Mutual Insurance in 1984, the building housed their computer systems until 1997. After 10 years of disuse and neglect this dynamic building, be-queathed to Glasgow by one of it's most beloved sons, opened as Stereo.
